Karmak, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned business management software provider headquartered in Carlinville, Illinois. Founded in 1981 by Richard and Linda Schien, the company has spent over four decades delivering innovative solutions to the commercial transportation industry. Karmak's flagship platform, Fusion, is designed to streamline operations for truck dealerships, service shops, and parts distributors. With a workforce of over 200 employees, Karmak serves clients across North America, building long-term partnerships grounded in trust and performance.
Karmak became employee-owned in 2003 when it implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) as part of the Schiens' succession planning. The founders believed that the best stewards of the company were the employees who had helped build it. In 2022, following the Schiens' retirement, the ESOP acquired the remaining shares, making Karmak 100% employee-owned.
