Staff Communications Specialist
Are you a storyteller at heart, eager to make a difference with your words and creativity? Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time entry-level Staff Communications Specialist. Here, you'll help clients craft compelling narratives about projects that transform communities, address environmental challenges, and build a better future.
As a Staff Communications Specialist, you will...
Dive into a mix of public and private sector projects, becoming an essential voice in shaping strategies and delivering impactful communication materials. Whether you're designing engaging presentations, crafting key messages, or creating digital content, your work will have a lasting impact. You'll collaborate with teammates, juggle evolving project timelines, and refine your craft in a supportive environment. Plus, while our Seattle office is your home base, we offer the flexibility to work remotely, striking the perfect balance between office collaboration and the comfort of your own space.
Your days will be filled with variety and purpose. Picture yourself drafting content, posting on social media, and designing newsletters that captivate audiences. Imagine researching historical information to inform project strategies, attending community events, and collaborating with clients to make their visions a reality. You'll build strong relationships with project managers, navigate client meetings with professionalism and poise, and deepen your understanding of communications and community engagement best practices.
To thrive in this role...
You will need a high school diploma or equivalent as a foundation, but we're also interested in candidates with a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field-or equivalent experience. You have a natural talent for both verbal and written communication, crafting messages that are clear, concise, and strategically impactful.
- Ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively with a team and provide excellent support to teammates and clients.
- Proficiency in efficiently managing timelines, schedules, details, and tasks within a fast-paced and deadline-driven setting.
- Understanding of the use of digital communication tools such as social media, websites, and web-based surveys in a professional setting.
- Desire to work with the public in virtual and in-person settings, including open houses, fairs, farmers markets, and other public gatherings.
- Poise, maturity, and confidentiality to participate in meetings with clients.
- Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is preferred.
- Secondary language fluency (Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, or Tagalog) is desired, though not required.
- Experience utilizing social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, TweetDeck, Sprout Social) a plus!
