Essential job duties include:

  • Reviews requisitions and confers with vendors to obtain product or service. Confirms availability, price, and delivery schedule.
  • Enters purchase orders into ERP (SAP).
  • Facilitates delivery of goods to requisitioner.
  • Assists in handling of expediting orders when needed, and managing the status of purchasing needs based upon Manager’s approval and production requirements.
  • Submits RFQ’s to vendors as needed and provides input on cost effective solutions as part of the team.
  • Routinely performs duties of cycle counting, 5S, issuing materials, receiving and putting away stock.
  • Procures items required for production.
  • Reviews and acts upon MRP messages and other SAP reports.
  • Maintains SAP databases with regards to order quantities, delivery dates, etc.
  • Develops knowledge of products, processes, markets and trends for assigned materials.
  • Interfaces with Accounting on invoicing issues, with Manufacturing and Quality to resolve supply and quality issues.
  • Expedites purchase orders in order to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Identifies continuous improvement activities.
  • Develops and maintains excellent supplier relationships.

Key qualifications:

  • BS Degree or related experience in manufacturing environment, minimum 5 years in purchasing or similar role.
  • International buying experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MRP required. (SAP a plus)
  • Ability to read blueprints preferred.

Compensation & Benefits  

  • Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 – September 30.
