Catamount Constructors, an industry-leading national general contractor, has an immediate opening for a Business Development Director reporting to our San Antonio office, SAT Commercial Group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years' experience in the construction industry along with proven client relationship building success.

Summary: To influence and execute business development (BD) strategy and foster new client relationships within their Business Unit within Catamount Constructors, Inc (CCI). Advises local leadership on strategies to achieve revenue, growth, and diversification targets. Ensures others in the Business Unit maintain accountability for sales goals and business development activities. Participates in Business Unit (BU) Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Overall Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following, as other duties may be assigned:

  • Possesses strong market knowledge to identify and pursue the right targets
  • Market knowledge should be strong within the Core Markets and Geographies that their Business Units are pursuing
  • Has a strong understanding of where they need to develop stronger market knowledge to locate the right opportunities and clients
  • Possesses as strong AEC knowledge and utilizes it to support pursuits and win strategies
  • Deeply understands macro trends that may affect the markets in which they are operating
  • Utilizes market knowledge to develop a local BU strategy in alignment with CCI goals


Networking And Connecting

  • Identifies the right networks in alignment with strategic pursuits and clients
  • Actively engages in events and coordinates efforts to engage other CCI operations team members
  • Possesses a strong network in regions and markets in which CCI is (or will) operate in
  • Utilizes broad network to connect people across CCI and demonstrates a “One Company” approach to networking


Collaborating For Success

  • Role models what it means to be a pursuit “Quarterback” and organizes, motivates, and aligns operational team members, marketing, and preconstruction throughout a pursuit process
  • Communicates effectively with all kinds of team members to ensure they have the right information at the right time as it relates to capture planning


Mentors, Coaches, And Trains

  • Acts as a mentor and leader of other CCI BD talent (as needed) and supports others’ growth and development
  • Role models to other current or aspiring BD specialists strong BD practices and approaches
  • Trains others at CCI key skills and processes related to BD to build a robust BD culture.


Client Management Reporting And Insights

  • Maintains strong CRM hygiene, and updates relevant data so that they (and others) can draw logical conclusions about current and future opportunities, wins, and backlog
  • Uses data to draw insights into the right types of clients and opportunities to pursue and how they are tracking towards their goals
  • Measures and understands how they (and the BU that they operate in) are performing against their BD plan and identifies strategies to fill gaps


Physical Demands (office): The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Travel: Regular travel may be required to maintain strong client + internal relationships and attend critical events as needed.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in business development, Commercial Construction experience is a must.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies
  • Deep expertise and experience within the AEC industry, core markets and geographies in which this role will operate.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong experience with CRM systems.

Compensation

In addition to offering competitive base pay, Catamount employees are eligible for additional incentives for merit/performance, project incentives*, new hire referrals, and business development commissions. *Project incentives are limited to certain roles in Operations
