Job Description
IMMI is seeking an Instrumentation Technician who will perform all tasks and functions to utilize, calibrate, maintain, repair, manage, document, select, design, develop, and plan the use of ATDs (anthropomorphic testing devices), electronic instrumentation, and photographic instrumentation.

Job Summary
Perform all tasks and functions to related electronic instrumentation. Ensure that all control and instrumentation devices and equipment are maintained and calibrated including:
- Utilize and repair electronic instrumentation
- Calibrate electronic instrumentation
- Design and development (Electrical circuits, programming)
- Programming (DIADem, C+, VisualBasic, RMC Tools, Python, LabView, MATLAB, SolidWorks)
- Connectors (Fischer, LEMO, Amphenol)
- Maintenance and troubleshooting (Cable repair, wire repair, connectors, panel repair and building)
- Instrumentation (Rotary pots, linear pots, load cells, accelerometer, strain gage, string pots)
- Any other task required to ensure proper operation of all electronic controls systems at all test centers
- All supporting data acquisition (Messring MBUS, DTS, PLC, Data Conversion, Filtering)
- Maintain and calibrate Test Dummies
- Instrumentation lab (Soldering, DMM, Oscilloscope, Power Supply, Signal Generator)
- Photographic instrumentation that will collect meaningful data for testing and evaluations
- All accessory equipment such as electronic brake abort systems, LED lighting systems, communication radios, overhead high-speed lighting systems, etc.
Responsibilities
- Formulate, develop, manage, and maintain all CAPE instrumentation management systems including all electronic software and files.
- Provide reliable technical, electrical engineering expertise for CAPE.
- Manage outside calibration activities on any required ATD’s, electronic instrumentation, and photographic instrumentation.
- Document calibration activities on all ATD’s, electronic instrumentation, and photographic instrumentation.
- Design, develop, and maintain all ATD, electronic instrumentation, and photographic instrumentation databases.
- Maintain and repair all ATD’s and instrumentation as required to support CAPE operations.
- Perform all tasks related to transducer calibrations, biomechanical calibrations, data acquisition calibrations, photometric calibrations, instrumentation calibrations, ATD databases, instrumentation databases, instrumentation setups, machine operation, system engineering, electrical engineering, electrical design, software design, and data processing.
- Conduct tests at any CAPE Test Center using established procedures, assuring customers receive accurate and useful data, photographs and video documentation.
- Review and QA calibrations certificates to ensure all tolerances and requirements are met.
- Provide training to CAPE staff on ATD and instrumentation equipment and processes.
- Provide instrumentation support for CAPE operations and test centers.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of an Associate of Science degree in electrical engineering technology, electronics technology, computer technology, equivalent military experience, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Must have a working knowledge in computers to be able to operate office software, data analysis software, data collection software, motion analysis software and program PLC’s, Motion Controllers, Data Processing scripts, User Interfaces for Test Centers, and other necessary equipment to ensure the safe and proper operation of CAPE electronic equipment and ensure proper instrumentation data is delivered to internal and external clients.
- Must have working knowledge in electronics/ instrumentation to efficiently operate (hands on) in an environment using a DMM, oscilloscope, waveform generator, and other related equipment.
- Must be able to solder and build and/or repair cable and connector assemblies.
- Must be able to perform the following as required: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, observing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to travel as the need arises, including travel by air when required and must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to drive long distances when necessary.
- Must be able to provide coverage after hours and weekends, as required to support customer testing and meet project deadlines.
