Amsted Rail location in Pittsburgh, PA are seeking an Engineering Intern or Co-op for this
summer starting in May 2025. This unique opportunity requires an innovative, self-starting individual to apply
innovation, creativity and vision to assist in developing our product lines. The position involves specifying product
performance requirements, developing and analyzing highly engineered products, and establishing requirements for
purchasing, manufacturing, testing and application of finished products.


What you will do:
• Assist the Product Development Engineering team with design, analysis and simulation of railcar
components and systems using CAD and CAE tools
• Perform experiments and tests on railcar component prototypes and samples
• Collect, process and interpret data from tests and simulations using statistical and graphical methods
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on results and findings
• Collaborate with other Interns, Engineers and Managers on cross-functional teams and initiatives
• Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards and regulations in all activities


Requirements:
• Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
• Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and apply new technologies and tools
• Ability to occasionally travel to visit other sites or manufacturing locations
• Physical: Must have full range of body motion. Certain operations may require repetitive bending,
squatting and full arm extension. Manual lifting, not exceeding fifty (50) pounds, may be required.
