Jr. Network Engineer

Torch Technologies is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) office (DES) team for the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF) at Redstone Arsenal (HSV).

Responsibilities:

• Analyze local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) systems, including planning, designing, and evaluating network operations.
• Configure operating systems, protocol suites, and communication media (e.g., concentrators, bridges, and other network devices).
• Troubleshoot and resolve interoperability issues across platforms to ensure seamless operations for email, file transfer, multimedia, and teleconferencing.
• Configure network systems to meet user environment requirements.
• Provide technical support for network device configuration, updates, and backups using Linux Command Line.
• Conduct day-to-day system administration for modeling and simulation (M&S) hardware and software.
• Assist with hardware and software acquisition, including selecting and integrating components.
• Support the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrading of network infrastructure, hardware, and software.
• Create and maintain network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
• Collaborate with Network Engineers and effectively communicate technical concepts through strong oral and written skills.
• Provide operations support five days a week and be willing to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
• Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 2+ years of network systems engineering experience, including installation and configuration of firewalls, switches, routers, and cabling.
• Certification: Must meet IAT-II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA or equivalent).
• Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance required.
• Strong attention to detail, initiative, and motivation.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls and Panorama configuration and best practices.
• Knowledge of multicast/unicast traffic flow and Cisco design best practices.
• Understanding of GM and Theater message flow.
• Experience with Ports, Protocols, and Services Management and Category Assurance List workflows.
• Familiarity with RHEL System Administration.
• Previous experience with MDA, Missile Defense System elements, or components.
