Position Summary

The Director, Practice Development serves in a business development role interacting with clients and prospects located in DMA’s sales regions. Assists in expanding the market share in focused tax practice areas. Manages a large set of client and prospect accounts for purposes of business development as well as participating as one of DMA’s strategic account managers to ensure satisfaction of DMA project deliverables.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with DMA service personnel to drive strategic, beneficial business opportunities for both the client and DMA
  • Participate in field business development efforts leveraging “valid business reasons”, subject matter expert partnering, and DMA’s experience, reputation, and existing relationships
  • Identify and understand client and prospect tax issues and challenges
  • Build trust internally with colleagues and externally with prospects and clients
  • Create written communication articulating an understanding of a client/prospect’s issues, challenges, needs, goals, and corresponding beneficial DMA services addressing those points
  • Participate in internal, collaborative, educational, strategy meetings designed to improve the business development process and results
  • Work with internal legal counsel during contract review process with prospects/clients
  • Capture and communicate business development discussions by updating DMA’s CRM solution, and as appropriate, update other teammates via email
  • Provide quality project and relationship management

     

    Education and Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field
    • 5+ years of professional business development experience, preferably in the areas relating to intangible products (e.g., tax, financial, or consulting services); experience within a tax consulting firm a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with CRM software
    • Previous demonstrable track record of business development success
    • Travel as required (between 15-20%, approximately)
