EMS Instructor

Teaching & Instruction
- Teach EMS curriculum according to established standards and objectives
- Deliver lectures and practical demonstrations to individuals and groups
- Instruct foundation courses including mathematics, computers, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, study skills, and first aid
- Provide detailed feedback on assignments and support struggling students
- Maintain student grades and prepare final course evaluations
Student Support & Retention
- Monitor attendance and coordinate with departments regarding consecutive absences
- Implement strategies to reduce withdrawals based on student success rate analysis
- Contact disengaged students via phone, text, or email as part of retention efforts
- Advise students on academic progress and respond promptly to communications
Program Coordination & Oversight
- Arrange guest speakers, community service trips, and clinical site visits
- Monitor online student progress and collaborate with faculty to support at-risk students
- Enforce safety protocols during classroom activities
- Assist with EMS student externship coordination
- Maintain programmatic quality and integrity
Administrative & Reporting
- Submit weekly attendance reports
- Alert appropriate personnel when student grades fall below requirements
- Maintain compliance with grading and documentation policies
Professional Development & Engagement
- Participate in required continuing education activities
- Attend faculty meetings (in-person or virtually)
- Stay current on EMS industry trends and technological advancements
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a U.S.-accredited institution
- Graduate of an accredited Paramedic program (or 4 years equivalent job-related training)
- 3+ years hands-on Paramedic experience
- EMS teaching knowledge and experience
- Current Paramedic certification/license (local, state, or federal)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- All faculty are required to obtain a letter of endorsement from the SNHD before any teaching.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $28.19-$35.23 per hour
