Junior Accountant

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking a rewarding career and an opportunity for advancement! The Junior Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the accounting department by focusing primarily on general ledger functions. This position involves working with various accounting processes and assisting with audits, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, and other accounting tasks. The Junior Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in compiling and preparing financial reports, monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations to accurately close the monthly and annual fiscal periods.
  • Record and manage bank transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in preparing general journal entries and performing account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Compile necessary documentation and information to assist with internal and external audits.
  • Perform weekly maintenance transactions for changes and prepare utilization reports.
  • Assist other accounting staff with various tasks and projects, including collaborating with other teams within the accounting department, and help with the annual budget preparation.
  • Assist the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams as needed.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as SAP and QuickBooks, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing financial regulations and company policies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering, consulting, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in corporate accounting.

Physical Qualifications

  • Primary functions require physical ability and sufficient mobility to work in an office setting.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
  • Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.
  • Fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
