Job Title: Senior Asset Protection Advisor

Job Summary:
The Senior Asset Protection Advisor (SAPA) will lead the implementation of the company’s Asset Protection and Security programs for their assigned stores. The SAPA (Senior Asset Protection Advisor) utilizes proper investigative techniques and acts as the primary liaison with field operations, store management and law enforcement. Conducts investigations into cash losses, merchandise losses, deposit shortages, associate theft and Organized Retail Crime (ORC). Educates store management on ways to mitigate loss and enhance safety/security. Manage complex assignments, cases and projects utilizing advanced investigative techniques and project management expertise. In addition, consistently demonstrates leadership and initiative when performing team and individual projects. Provides coverage for Asset Protection Manager when necessary.
Principal Duties:
- Identify areas of risk related to crime including robbery, internal (employee) and external theft and physical security and make recommendations for upstream process improvement to prevent future losses.
- While visiting stores partner with store management and Area Manager to address root causes of loss. The visit may entail training, auditing, and/or interviewing.
- Conduct confidential investigations into employee theft, credit card fraud, cash losses, general shrink variances and other asset protection and security investigations.
- Gather facts and data skillfully via interviews, store reports, store data and other investigative tools. Evaluate store records, conditions and management to reconstruct the situations and conditions that caused losses.
- Lead complex organized retail theft (ORC) investigations in cooperation with local, state and federal agencies
- Conduct robbery incident investigation including detailed video surveillance review and in coordination with law enforcement and other agencies.
- Resolve cases and recommend the best course of action for management including criminal prosecution.
- Cultivate and maintain excellent law enforcement relationships at local, state and federal level.
- Evaluate on an ongoing basis, physical security measures (cameras, alarms, access points etc.) at all Wawa locations, including training centers and the corporate office.
- Make recommendations to senior management for asset protection process improvements.
- Partner with regional team and provide the regional team with asset protection support.
- In coordination with Real Estate and Store Operations, perform site assessments for future store locations and evaluate/ develop the security profile.
- Identify evaluate and implement effective merchandise protection tools and other theft prevention measures at store level.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, pre-law or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of retail asset protection/security experience; store experience preferred
- Knowledge of store document (physical and e-reports) analysis, store surveillance systems and day-to-day store operations
- Investigative experience
- Proficient computer skills
- Demonstrated expertise in site security including strategic placement of physical security tools (i.e. cameras, merchandise protection tools etc.)
- Experience in analyzing exception-based reporting (XBR) data and formulating appropriate actions steps to prevent company losses
- Experience in coordinating and/or participating in confidential Organized Retail Theft investigations
- Established affiliations with local, state or national professional organizations
