Maintenance Mechanic Helper

Summary/Objective

Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Junior Maintenance Mechanic shall perform a variety of maintenance duties as directed or instructed. He or she shall assist other maintenance personnel in performing any task in their specification; however, only under their direct guidance. This is an Entry Level position. All work will be done in compliance with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Essential Functions

Assist in maintenance and repair of production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
Perform and document regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities. Some HVAC.
Perform a variety of basic plumbing maintenance, basic electrical maintenance and basic carpentry functions.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
May help with snow removal in the winter.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
Complete inspections of facilities.
Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol.
Perform other maintenance duties as requested.

Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic math skills.
Mechanical inclination.
Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers and small hand tools.
Strong time management with the ability to multitask.
Attention to detail and thoroughness.
Able to work well with minimal supervision.
Ability to be respirator certified
Ability to operate powered industrial equipment

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time entry level position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (3:30pm – 12:00a.m. for second shift, 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM 4-day work week for 3rd shift). Occasional overtime as deemed by management and production needs. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education And Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Education And Experience

One year of related experience.
Additional education or experience.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

ITAR compliance
