ROLE: Plumbing Apprentice POSITION SUMMARY: The Plumbing Apprentice will work with a plumbing technician learning and assisting in the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems. The apprentice must be career oriented and want to learn, master the trade, and take ownership of a career as a full-time technician. This employee will perform duties as assigned in a residential setting. They will work with numerous system parts and mechanisms. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, water heaters, and drainage systems. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand plumbing system requirements. Assist in the assembly, installation, and testing of plumbing systems and components, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations. Observe and learn various plumbing techniques, such as soldering, brazing, threading, and pipe fitting, under the guidance of experienced plumbers. Assist in diagnosing plumbing issues, troubleshoot problems, and propose appropriate solutions. Collaborate with the plumbing team to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery used in plumbing installations and repairs. Adhere to safety protocols and follow best practices to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Continuously develop technical skills and industry knowledge through on-the-job training and participation in relevant training programs. Assist in excavation projects, sewer and drain cleaning and various other projects related to the installation and maintenance of residential plumbing Perform appropriate communication with co-workers and customers Learn how to evaluate situations and take proper corrective action Use basic math computations needed to perform in the plumbing trade Complete other duties as assigned MINIMUM / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. Equivalent technical school or work experience Operating knowledge and working proficiency with hand-held computer (i.e., smartphone, tablet). Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required SKILLS: Basic understanding of plumbing systems, tools, and equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools effectively. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and customers. Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
