Position Overview
The Mid-Level Spatial Analyst provides advanced geospatial analysis and mission-focused spatial intelligence in support of national defense and strategic operations. This role supports complex geospatial workflows involving mobility modeling, adversary weapons system movement analysis, and real-time geospatial data integration using ArcGIS Enterprise and related technologies. The analyst will work in a collaborative, classified environment supporting USSTRATCOM-aligned missions and DoD stakeholders.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Geospatial Analysis & Mission Support
- Perform advanced spatial and temporal analysis to support operational planning, threat assessments, and decision-making.
- Conduct mobility modeling analyses (time, distance, likelihood, and accessibility) related to adversary military weapon systems and force movement.
- Analyze influential environmental, terrain, infrastructure, and operational factors impacting adversary mobility and weapons employment.
- Apply machine learning and automation concepts to improve geospatial analytic workflows and enhance analytic efficiency.
ArcGIS Enterprise & Web GIS Development
- Install, configure, operate, and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise components, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Operations Dashboard and ArcGIS GeoEvent Server
- Develop and publish web maps, web mapping applications, and spatial analytic dashboards using ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Configure and deploy GeoEvent Processor adapters to ingest, process, and visualize real-time geospatial data feeds.
- Support integration of streaming and near-real-time data into operational dashboards.
Data Integration & Automation
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate geospatial data ingestion, processing, and analysis.
- Connect to and process dynamic streaming data sources using JSON / GeoJSON, XML, CSV, and REST endpoints
- Apply ArcPy scripting for geoprocessing automation, data management, and quality control.
- Ensure adherence to GIS data management best practices, including versioning, metadata, and data lifecycle management.
Database & Systems Support
- Design, query, and maintain relational databases supporting geospatial applications.
- Integrate GIS systems with enterprise databases and external data sources.
- Support system performance optimization and troubleshooting for geospatial services.
Standards, Security & Compliance
- Apply Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards to ensure interoperability across systems.
- Operate within DoD IT security frameworks, including DISA STIG compliance, FedRAMP requirements, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes
- Ensure secure handling of classified and sensitive geospatial data in accordance with DoD and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Education and Qualifications – Mid- Level:
- Minimum 8 years of military experience performing GIS analysis OR
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, or a related field with equivalent experience
- GIS Experience:
- At least 3 years of direct GIS experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise
- Programming & Data:
- 3 years of Python scripting experience, including geospatial automation
- 3 years of experience with relational database management
- Experience working with streaming and dynamic data formats (JSON, GeoJSON, XML, CSV, REST)
- Advanced Analysis:
- 8 years of experience performing mobility modeling related to adversary military weapon systems
- Demonstrated understanding of factors influencing weapons movement and operational mobility
- ArcGIS Enterprise Expertise:
- Proven proficiency with Portal, Operations Dashboard, and GeoEvent Server
- Experience producing web maps, web applications, and analytic dashboards
- Standards & Compliance:
- Working knowledge of OGC standards
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and compliance requirements
- Automation & Scripting:
- Minimum 3 years of experience using ArcPy and GIS data management best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting USSTRATCOM or other Combatant Command missions
- Familiarity with intelligence community (IC) data sources and workflows
- Experience integrating machine learning techniques into geospatial analysis
- Prior experience in a classified or operational DoD environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefing technical findings
