Summary
The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at highway construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in highway construction projects; performs manual work.
- Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Performs materials handling and storage.
- Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
- Comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Must be physically healthy to stand, bend, and walk for up to 10-12 hours a day
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. This position is performed in outside weather conditions
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Requirements:
- 2+ Years of experience performing labor work.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicant must have no prior history that is violent in nature and/or theft related in the last 7 years
- Comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Hours of work vary based on project needs and weather conditions. Overtime as required.
