Fire & Risk Alliance, LLC is seeking motivated, hands‑on technicians to join our Cambridge, MD team. This role is ideal for graduates of mechanical, electrical, or construction trade programs who enjoy building, assembling, and working with tools and equipment in active testing environments.
Our Cambridge testing facility focuses on medium‑ and large‑scale fire testing, fire suppression research, deflagration protection, gas detection, and battery energy storage safety. You’ll work directly with engineers to build test rigs, install instrumentation, and support major research programs.
Role Description
- Build and assemble medium‑ and large‑scale experimental test structures
- Install sensors, wiring, piping, mechanical components, and instrumentation
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery
- Assist with data collection, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Support field work, equipment transport, and on‑site test operations
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient testing environment
Qualifications
- Training or experience in mechanical, electrical, or construction trades (fabrication, framing, wiring, HVAC, assembly, etc.)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools and equipment
- Ability to read basic drawings, schematics, or construction layouts
- Experience operating forklifts, skid loaders, pallet jacks, or similar equipment is a strong benefit
- Willingness to learn instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail

Location
On‑site at FRA’s Cambridge, MD testing facility. Travel is required to support testing at other locations.
Salary Range: $37,000 to $50,000
