Description
As a Refrigeration Engineer, you will be an ISG Employee Owner working collaboratively with your fellow employee owners. You will be a member of a fully integrated team, working with ISGers to develop creative solutions. This role provides immense opportunities to learn and strengthen skills, lead, and assist team members with the development and design of projects.
The Refrigeration Engineer may be based out of our Green Bay, Mankato, Des Moines, Bloomington, or Milwaukee, office locations. Regardless of your office, you will assist with refrigeration activity throughout the entire ISG footprint. Because of this, travel may be necessary at times. These trips are usually 1-2 days and happen a few times a month.
Team members you will work closely with are Phil Golden PE, Erich Golden PE, and Brian Gjerde PE. As leaders within the Food and Industrial Business Unit, they have the opportunity to work within a variety of large projects that include elements of Industrial Refrigeration, System Design, and more! - Beverage Industry – Breweries and Bottling Plants
- Chemical Industry
- Cold Freezer/Storage Industry
- Food Processing Industry – Meat, Poultry, Pork, Milk, Cheese, and Prepared Foods.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-10 years of professional experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Ability to connect and promote ISG’s solutions to clients.
- Ability to communicate ideas empathetically and visually through both written and verbal communications.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills including hydraulic analysis, and process/room load analysis programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Work closely with clients in all phases of design process.
- Design complete refrigeration systems for industrial applications – Ammonia and Synthetic, CO2 a plus.
- Perform heat load calculations.
- Sizing and selection of refrigeration equipment.
- Sizing of piping and pipe routing.
- Understanding of control I/O and sequencing.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used refrigeration engineering and design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the refrigeration engineering services industry.
- Maintain quality and standards by staying current with relevant code changes and maintaining ISG engineering standards.
- Develop refrigeration specifications based on project and client specific requirements.
- Communicate project goals, objectives, design standards and procedures with project managers and multi-discipline team.
- Serve as a mentor and build the ISG team.
