This position will collaborate closely with Supply Chain/Commercial and maintain complete ownership of the production schedules to meet both the requirements of our customers and also optimize the plant efficiency. The Production Scheduler will balance demands of production scheduling with materials flow within Urick and at our outside processors. Nurture and sustain trusting relationships with Customers, (Internal/External) Customer Service, and Suppliers.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Create shop orders from new customer orders and Kanban cards daily.
- Review and process shop order change logs and close shop orders for Kanban and value add items bi weekly.
- Adjust quantities, schedule dates, and confirm shop orders in Odyssey.
- Mark completed production steps in Odyssey to maintain accurate status.
- Move unfinished jobs to the next available production day.
- Use Odyssey ERP to schedule production across the core room, DISA molding, cleaning, and shipping.
- Review unlocked shop order reports and assign no core jobs to the DISA schedule.
- Place cored jobs into scheduling tabs to build the core room schedule.
- Review outside core inventory and schedule jobs based on readiness, updating Odyssey dates and statuses.
- Monitor the Core Scheduling file and schedule jobs that move “above the line.”
- Produce, refine, and update production schedules to meet customer requirements and optimize throughput.
- Evaluate jobs scheduled two days out and finalize the daily production plan.
- Print and distribute daily schedules to relevant departments, or email when working remotely.
- Partner with the Manila team, Production Control Lead, foundry personnel, and suppliers to ensure accurate scheduling and materials flow.
- Communicate lead times and promise dates clearly based on capacity and system data.
- Provide direction to the Core Room for hot jobs and ensure alignment across teams.
- Send full core schedules to the Core Room Supervisor as needed.
- Support production and materials scheduling to align with the master production schedule, inventory turns, and customer service goals.
- Review outside core availability and schedule jobs as materials become available.
- Partner with the Production Control Lead to map scheduling workflows and identify bottlenecks or redundancies.
- Use KPIs to measure improvements in scheduling accuracy, throughput, and on time delivery.
- Produce weekly and month end OTD reporting.
- Coordinate daily and weekly Open Order Board reviews.
- Drive the Inventory Cycle Count program and assess negative inventory situations for correction.
- Serve as back up for the Shipping Coordinator as needed.
- Review production reports from 1st and 3rd shifts and adjust schedules accordingly.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or 3+ years of experience in scheduling or materials planning.
- Strong computer skills and a system-oriented mindset.
- Working knowledge of business software, including ERP platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Uses computers frequently; collaborate with the other employees, customers and outside visitors by telephone, mail, electronic mail, and/or in person.
- Works inside a foundry environment. Is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots within the foundry.
- Legal authorization to work in the US - Visa sponsorship will not be provided.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Supply chain training such as APICS certification.
- Experience with Kanban pull systems.
- Proficiency using the Odyssey system.
