We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial team. This team provides construction site surveys, MEP design, troubleshooting, and creative solutions to unique demands within the industrial, semiconductor, and high-tech construction environment. This position is responsible for researching, planning, and designing the electrical and power elements of multiple client projects. This role is located in Albuquerque, NM, and has a flexible hybrid work schedule.
The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in Lighting, Power Distribution, and Special Systems:
Lighting
- Knowledge of best lighting design practices
- In-depth knowledge of lighting and lighting control systems including relay controls
Power Distribution
- Low voltage (600 V class) building power distribution
- Medium voltage (5 KV to 38 KV) power distribution
- SKM short circuit and arc flash calculations (or similar software)
- Breaker settings and TCC coordination
- Understanding of the NEC, including but not limited to:
- Conductor/conduit sizing and deration
- Equipment sizing and disconnect requirements for panelboards, transformers, etc.
- Overcurrent protection
- Load calculations and equipment sizing
- Working space and equipment clearances
- Understanding technical specifications and the ability to help generate specifications
- Technical writing for multiple studies and design documents
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system design
- Standby and Emergency system design, including generators, ATS’s, etc.
Special Systems
- Responsible for understanding and learning of client standards for the design of telecommunications systems
- Responsible for understanding and learning of client standards for the design of technical security systems and devices
- Responsible for understanding and learning basic fire alarm system design (in-depth knowledge of the NFPA preferred)
- Prior knowledge of grounding and lightning protection systems preferred
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer License in New Mexico
- Substantial experience in the MEP Consulting industry, preferably in Industrial, Semiconductor, or High-Tech projects
- Experience managing the MEP project workflow from defining requirements to issuing deliverables
- Oversee project management activities of all team members under their supervision
- Knowledge of applicable codes including the NFPA (special focus on NEC), IESNA, IECC, ASHRAE
- Excellent multi-tasking capabilities across multiple projects coupled with exceptional communication and client relationship-building skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Experience in telecommunications and security/access control is a plus
