Summary of Description:

This position is responsible for managing engineering related projects. Project Managers will also be responsible for ensuring projects are completed and meet the defined requirements/ budgets.


Duties:

  • Work with clients to develop business relationships.
  • Work with clients to define business requirements for projects. 
  • Development of detailed work scopes that align with the clients’ needs.
  • Development of detailed control budgets to meet scope of work.
  • Development of project timelines to meet work scope and client requirements.
  • Management of assigned resources to ensure projects are completed on time. 
  • Work with vendors/suppliers to acquire equipment and technology. 
  • Maintain proper project documentation. 
  • Promote professionalism throughout the workplace. 
  • Promote safety on assigned projects. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited University with at least eight (8) years of experience in industrial work including but not limited to refinery, petrochemical, chemical, offshore, pipeline or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


License Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License as par State law or requirement
  • Professional license preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. 
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection. 
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Position Overview:

The project manager reports to the company project lead. This position is responsible for developing and executing the assigned portfolio of projects which will support continuous improvements of safety, reliability, facility optimization, and other values (e.g., production, risk reduction, environmental improvements etc.) at the facility. The projects will be managed and executed under the guidelines of the company and site-specific project development and execution processes. The project manager is also responsible for the safe and efficient development and execution of capital and expense projects. These projects will be delivered maintaining the Company’s core values.


Knowledge:

The individual should have a broad understanding of project development & management through a stage-gated process. The project manager shall be experienced in progressing a project from initiation thru project feasibility to design & development to its implementation & commissioning. The individual shall also possess a sound knowledge of the management of change (MOC) processes to identify and manage risks arising from the implementation of the proposed projects (predominantly brownfield projects). Experience with design and engineering activities related to oil refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals, hydrocarbon pipelines or LNG processing, storage, and transportation is required.


Responsiblities and Essential Duties:

  • Manages a portfolio of projects and provides key input into the facility planning budget.
  • Manage all phases of project development and execution with an emphasis on safety and performance specifications.
  • Supports all phases of the project and leads the coordination of work including, safety, process design, front end engineering and design, detailed design, procurement, cost control, schedules, quality, construction planning, execution planning, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate, plan, schedule, and execute technical activities for assigned plant projects. Monitor and control expenditures within limitations of project budget. Prepare interim and completion project reports. 
  • Ability to lead a multi-discipline team of engineers, designers from engineering and construction contractors assigned to projects. There will no direct company employees reporting to this position.
  • Ensures the technical integrity of the project, including compliance with the project scope, specifications, sound engineering judgement and company basic engineering design documents. Assure as-built and project close out documentation is completed and stored in document control systems.
  • Thoroughly understand and comply with the technical management of change (MOC) process and utilize it in support of capital projects and routine facility changes. 
  • Deliver projects that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient LNG operations which are executed on time and on budget.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures following the highest ethical standards.
  • Participate in regulatory agency audits.
  • Reinforce safety and environmental awareness through frequent job observations and by interfacing with plant personnel. 
  • Work with engineering and construction department to provide support and assure O & M interests are represented on major projects. Participates in equipment factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs).
  • Interact with and support commercial operations, compliance, regulatory affairs, and other departments as required.
  • Complete site walk-downs to support project development requirements. 

Qualifications: 

  1. Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; professional registration is desirable.  
  2. Experience: Seven plus years experience as a project manager out of which a minimum of two (2) years experience shall be at an operating facility such as oil refining, petrochemical or specialty chemical plant, midsteam storage or LNG facility. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, refining, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
