POSITION PURPOSE
The Manufacturing Engineer Technician will be a key member of the Regional Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position will be responsible for executing regional and global engineering projects, operations team support, maintenance reliability support, continuous improvement projects, safety projects and daily tasks associated with manufacturing processes. As a senior mechanic, the Manufacturing Engineer Technician will be capable of completing projects requiring a multi-disciplinary skillset, minimal supervision, while being self-motivated to work with others and deliver measurable results. The Technician will support the Regional Manufacturing Engineering department while demonstrating BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- 3+ years manufacturing experience as a technician or mechanic preferred.
- Knowledge/experience of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems preferred.
- Ability to read, follow, and execute plans through CAD drawings or OEM instructions. Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD preferred. •
- Microsoft Office computer skills preferred. This includes the ability to create and manipulate excel spreadsheets, presentations, and metrics.
- Demonstrated computer competency. Knowledge/experience accessing BAC systems such as Sharepoint, Onedrive, PPD and Peoplesoft.
- Ability to develop, audit and edit processes documentation based on current manufacturing practices, data analysis, film analysis and time study.
- Ability to design parts and fixtures for new and existing processes.
- Strong competency with Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving techniques such as 5Y, Fish Bone and A3.
- Familiar with the Five Lean Principles, 5S and the Seven Wastes.
- Knowledge and/or experience with Robotics, Automation Systems and/or PLCs preferred. • Ability to support regional projects at other BAC facilities.
- Knowledge and/or experience with weld procedures including WPS/PQR/WPQ preferred.
- Effective written communication including documentation of processes, and the communication of those processes with fellow mechanics. Ability to communicate to supervisor and co-workers with written memos or emails that are professional, concise, and clearly understood.
- Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customer and co-workers. The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate.
- Ability to identify cost out opportunities and determine appropriate methods for implementation.

- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to use handheld measuring tools including tape measure, square, protractor, calipers, and micrometer.
- Knowledge/experience operating manufacturing fabrication equipment such as a drill press, milling machine, lathe, grinder, band saw, plasma cutter, welder, etc.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment. Contributes to departmental safety improvements.
- Develop, audit, and edit process documentation based on current manufacturing practice, data analysis, film analysis and time study.
- Design parts, devices, fixtures, and structures for the purpose of improving safety, quality, and productivity for new and existing processes.
- Build parts, devices, fixtures, and structures using machinery, hand tools, and welding equipment. • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving solving events to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste.
- Assist Regional Manufacturing Engineering with New Product Development (NPD) pilot observations.
- Assists Operations, Engineering and Maintenance teams with problem solving and apply short and long team solutions as needed.
- Support project plans for Safety, Quality, and/or Production with a primary focus on cost out savings related to Material, Labor, and/or Overhead (M, L, OH).
- Participate in Lean Events such as SMED, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen as requested, including process time studies and data analysis.
- Work in small teams to execute improvement projects driven by the Regional Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and/or the Plant Leadership team. This includes troubleshooting, fabricating, installing, and documenting.
- Available to work any shift or weekends as needed.
- Share best practices with other BAC facilities as opportunities to improve and standardize the safety, quality, and production culture within BAC.
- Train mechanics on lessons learned and process improvements.
NATURE & SCOPE
The position serves in a support role to the Regional Manufacturing Engineering Team. The Technician will report on a direct basis to the Plant Manufacturing Engineer. This role may require up to 20% travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
