JOB SUMMARY
The QA Micro Lab I will conduct microbiological analysis following laboratory standard operating procedures. The position is also responsible to generate and submit Certificates of Analysis as required by customers. The lab tech will ensure that laboratory equipment and supplies are maintained as required to complete testing in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Understand and model correct behavior in the core principals of quality manufacturing as they relate to the food industry, such as HACCP, GMP and SQFI.
2. COA: generate customer required COA's for finished goods.
3. Micro Testing: test finished goods and ingredients (sample preparation, serial dilution, reading, data entry)
4. Micro Proficiency: Must successfully complete 3rd party proficiency testing as required.
5. Equipment: Understand the proper use of, and maintenance required, for laboratory equipment (autoclaves, viscometer, pH meter, etc.)
6. Calibration: Perform internal calibrations of laboratory equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Some working knowledge of ROSS or other inventory management system, NWA or other statistical analysis system and SharePoint or other similar system is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office
- Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas professionally, effectively, and efficiently in the common language
- Communicate professionally in email format
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
- Compute basic mathematical calculations, rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to comprehend and apply knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation.
- Ability to apply strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills to manage priorities and workflow while being versatile and flexible with a willingness to work constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Computer skills: to perform this job successfully the individual must have excellent working knowledge of the ERP/GL system and reporting software (Hyperion)
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Must be a highly structured, disciplined, organized, and motivated individual with keen sense of attention to detail.
