Solar Service Technicians in the
Tucson, Arizona market area.
SUMMARY: The position of Solar Service Technician has been established to achieve the company goals in residential electrical service needs. The Solar Service Technician will play an essential part in ensuring our customers’ PV Systems and other energy systems perform at optimal levels through maintenance and repair.
POSITION REQUIRMENTS:
- Availability – Standard workday is Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. Dispatch confirmations for each day are sent at 7am. If material is needed and you are required to pick up material before the first call, you must give yourself enough time to be at your first call by the expected service start time. Prior to your actual service start time, you are expected to pick up material and continue working through your scheduled day to complete all scheduled service calls.
- Emergency - One week on Call Rotation. Number of rotations will depend on staff size. As an example - if 12 Service Technicians are working, you will be on call every 12 weeks; if 10 Service Technicians are working, you will be on call every 10 weeks.
- Company Vehicle – Position requires to operate a company vehicle. A clean MVR is required. You are required to keep the vehicle stocked and ready for service calls. Vehicles must be clean at all times. You will be responsible for all company tools and IT equipment.
- Appearance – Service uniforms will be supplied. It is mandatory to wear your uniform every day.
- Schedule - Ensure daily work schedule is completed by end of day. Your scheduled service calls must be completed in full before ending your work day.
- Travel – Service calls can be assigned in the areas of Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties. Company vehicles and gas cards are provided to each Service Technician. Travel and drive time is not compensated between employee’s residence to the jobsite or from the jobsite to employee’s residence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the completion of each service call and construction projects in accordance with the engineer’s drawings, specifications, and prevailing building codes.
Ensure compliance with all contract documents.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential solar and residential electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot solar inverters, micro inverters, and power optimizers.
Troubleshoot PV ground faults, arc faults, and PV system wiring.
Troubleshoot, repair, and commission PV monitoring equipment along with customer Ethernet connection.
Contacting manufacturer to validate/authorize warranty replacement of equipment.
Troubleshoot PV System performance issues and obtain Solmetric SunEye readings for shade analysis interpretation/documentation and obtain required forensic photo documentation.
Set up/administer home energy web-based accounts for PV solar and/or home consumption monitoring.
Access rooftop systems and proper usage of extension ladders.
Identify rooftop integrity and future potential problems.
Provide materials lists, scope of work, and estimated timeline for repairs if return visits are required.
Be knowledgeable with current NEC and OSHA codes.
Installation of residential electrical circuits including EV Chargers, HVAC, SPA, and other branch circuits.
Bending electrical conduit 1/2’’ to 1-1/4’’ in residential applications.
Installing Romex wire in residential applications.
Troubleshoot electrical ground faults/arc faults, and other common electrical problems in residential homes.
Works with and understands blueprints, electrical schematics and job specifications.
Properly Communicates effectively to clients about issues, provides valuable solutions, and uses pricing guide to present options to the homeowner.
Work closely with Service Foreman and Service Manager on training needs and requirements for all field personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
IBEW #570 Member in good standings
Valid Clean Card
Solar PV experience
Residential electrical experience
Experience with battery backup energy storage systems is a plus
A qualifying Background, Drug Test, and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening will be required upon contingent offer of employment.
EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
A minimum of 3+ years of technical field electrical experience is required.
California State Electrician Certified (General or Residential Electrician) a plus.
NABCEP Certified Installer or Technician a plus.
Must have good computer skills in MS Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Acrobat, etc.).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, climb, talk, hear, see and use complex repetitive motions. May frequently lift and or move at least 75 pounds of materials, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment includes indoor as well as outdoor settings and can range in temperature from 30°F to 110°F. The work surface can include unfinished crawl spaces and attics as well as roof tops, walk-in freezers, and concrete floors or pads. PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The hourly rate for this position is based on the local I.B.E.W. union rates. Other benefits may apply. For those not already part of the I.B.E.W union we will facilitate joining.
