Salary Range: $31-$41 per hour. Salary will be dependent upon experience.
This position is a part-time position with the possibility of moving to full-time.
Summary:
Matrix Environmental Services is growing and is seeking a highly talented individual to serve as an Environmental Scientist on various private and public assignments. You will support various environmental programs and development, compliance, and remediation projects. Your primary duties will be data management, analysis, and laboratory data validation, laboratory coordination, plan and report writing, and quality assurance. You will also be responsible for clear and frequent communications with project managers, and budget and schedule control of your tasks.This position requires attention to detail, time management, multi-tasking capability, and a strong work ethic. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze, interpret, and validate environmental laboratory data using USEPA and SW-846 Methods
- Coordinate contracts and deliverables with commercial laboratories
- Manage and upload databases
- Utilize commercial software to analyze and validate environmental data
- Analyze data using statistical methods
- Knowledge of U.S. EPA and state risk assessment procedures
- Knowledge of contaminant fate and transport processes
- Write technical reports
- Manage scope, schedule, budget of laboratory subcontractors
- Clearly communicate workload, timelines, milestones, and limiting factors to project managers
- Adhere to safety standards and requirements
- Ensure quality and client satisfaction
- Deliver on-time and on-budget within authorized scope
Competencies:

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook)

Supervisory Responsibility:
Education and Experience:
- 4-year degree Environmental Science, Chemistry or Engineering (or related scientific degree)
- 3+ years of experience in environmental data management, analysis, and validation of environmental samples under the USEPA CLP program or SW-846 Methods
- Experience with environmental data systems (such as Enviro Data from Geotech Computer Systems preferred)
- Experience with electronic data deliverables (EDD) from various commercial laboratories (i.e. Pace, Eurofins, etc.)
- Experience preparing data usability reports
- Experience with groundwater, soil, soil gas, and air sampling techniques for a variety of constituents (desired)
- Experience performing sampling groundwater, soil, soil gas, and air (desired)
- Experience with data collected using field meters (PID, Water Quality Meters, Multi Gas Meters).
- Familiarity with environmental assessment, planning, remediation, permitting, and compliance
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, vendors, and suppliers preferred
- Familiarity with state laboratory procedures (particularly with Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, and Texas)
