Starting at $18/ Hour
I. Job Purpose/Objective:
This position is responsible for delivering the highest quality of customer service and “ALOHA” to all guests and serving staff. The incumbent will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of the bar. Incumbents must be able to take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests courteously and efficiently.
II. Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, wine and non-alcoholic selections available.
- Knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation, and prices.
- Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks, stock ice, glassware, supplies, and stock bar inventory when needed.
- Ensure all drink orders are consistent and prepared according to the recipe to deliver a consistent product, control costs, and maximize Guest satisfaction
- Set up and maintain cleanliness and condition of the bar, bar unit, tables, and other tools. Complete opening and closing side duties.
- Ability to interact with guests sitting at the bar area. Knowledgeable about food menu items and able to describe and make suggestions.
- Bartend and provide exceptional customer service to guests within the bar by providing drinks and food orders in a timely manner.
- Perform POS functions of inputting orders verifying charges and settlement of checks. TOAST pos experience a plus.
- Strictly abide by all state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated Guests
- Assesses Guest demeanor and identifies when behavior should be called to the attention of a Manager.
- Knowledge of Department of Health regulations and monitor cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all bar areas and storage.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Take inventory, prepare beverage order and input order in adherence to outlet’s guidelines.
- Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Maintains responsibility for personal bank and ensures all financial transactions are accurate by operating credit card machines correctly, calculating and returning appropriate change, and maintaining adequate cash and coin for making change.
III. Essential Skills (Minimum qualifications individual must possess when entering position) – i.e. skillsets, education, certifications, etc.:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least minimum age to serve liquor.
- Must have knowledge of brands of various spirits such as whiskeys, bourbons, scotches, cordials, and mixes, training in bar service and drinks.
- Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments.
- Must be able to calculate simple math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be personable and have a pleasant manner.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Adapt to change, open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, and adjust plans to meet changing needs.
- Meet commitments, work independently, accept accountability, set personal standards, stay focused under pressure, meet attendance/punctuality requirements.
IV. Working Conditions/Job Environment:
- Must be able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
- Job involves working under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), variable noise levels, and outdoors/indoors.
- Walking, standing, kneeling bending, pulling, pushing.
- Work in various areas and noise levels from moderate (office atmosphere) to loud (stage areas)
- Medium work: Exerting up to 35 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force or constantly to lift, reach, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and quickly.
