Meat Wrapper

Part Time

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • Wrap cuts of meat and by pound meat carefully and within all standard health codes
  • Ability to comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions and descriptions concerning store policy and procedures, and usage of equipment
  • To supervise/perform organize the cooler/freezer/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and quality, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer
  • Properly lift and hold various cuts of meat through a full shift, extensively ensuring proper wrapping standards

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Meat Wrapper reports directly to the Meat Department Manager.

Qualifications

  • Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience

 

Specific tasks

  • Lift, twist, move, hold, and carry a maximum of 80 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer
  • Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas
  • Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
  • Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers
  • Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely
  • Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems
  • To supervise/perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily utilizing the time keeping system to record each check.

 

 

Work Environment Note:

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
