Job Summary
The Combustion Project Engineer will be responsible for designing and managing industrial furnace builds, rebuilds, and retrofits. The Combustion Project Engineer must maintain good communication with the combustion team, vendors, and clients. The Combustion Project Engineer must work with all relevant departments and vendors to complete projects and provide mechanical assistance during construction.
The Project Engineer will be exposed to:
- Design/specification of Process equipment (mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation) for inert atmosphere gas, natural gas, heating oils #2 through #6, combustion air, and water systems.
- Some examples of equipment include control valves, pressure regulators, relief valves, heat exchangers, safety shut-off valves, air supply blowers, exhaust fans, pumps, pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, and controllers.
- Refractory insulation design
- NFPA 54 & 86 standards
- SMACNA ductwork design
- Creation of ISA based P&IDs, PFDs, and piping schematics.
- Collaboration with piping designers and drafters to create detail system drawings.
- Hands-on training to learn company standard assembly procedures.
- Coordination within our fabrication facility
- Inspect components received from vendors and finished systems.
- Travel to on-site installations during construction and commissioning for start-up and troubleshooting
- Collaboration with control/electrical engineers to develop temperature, flow, and pressure control schemes to satisfy process requirements.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
Safety
- Promote and engage in a safe work environment.
- Report safety incidents.
- Display good housekeeping in work areas.
· Ensure adherence to OSHA and Onex safety policies.
Engineering
- Use AutoCAD, Inventor, and Visio to create models and drawings of products.
- Ensure components and assemblies adhere to the contract, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Confirm designs with the engineering team.
- Commission and troubleshoot the startup of new equipment.
- Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
Project Management
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
- Procure items in order of assembly and/or lead times.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including client equipment manuals, drawings, preventative maintenance, and spare parts lists.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget by monitoring the progress of design and production teams and third parties/vendors.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through responsiveness, technical proficiency, personal rapport, and proactively addressing customer needs.
- Participate in regular completed job audits to improve quality, delivery, and cost to improve quote accuracy and profitability.
