Torch Technologies is seeking an entry level, model and development engineer under the Technical and Management Advisory Services 2 (TMAS2) Tenants Task Order to provide advisory and assistance support to the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) at Eglin AFB, FL.
This position requires a highly motivated individual with experience in modeling and development engineering, to include the below essential duties:
- Support the DoD science and technology (S&T) community in the creation of software architectures to achieve AFRL digital transformation goals of faster research, better decisions, streamlined transitions, and low-friction business and operations, including supporting the development of model parameterization tools that will enable reliable and accurate modeling and simulation (M&S) of materials used in conceptual weapons and technologies for improving weapon performance.
- Perform model calibration and analysis of model performance through the application of high-fidelity, physics-based continuum mechanics codes.
- Perform M&S analysis of structural and energetic material characterization tests for the purpose of material model development for high fidelity, physics-based continuum mechanics codes.
- Prepare written reports, presentations, performance work statements, and other technical documents.
- Provide advice in technical meetings and reviews.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to acquire a SECRET level security clearance. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Candidates having a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university are preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with computer aided design (CAD) tools such as Solidworks.
- Experience with computer programming languages such as Python or Matlab.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
- General understanding of strength of materials, material science, and structural dynamics.
- Strong desire and ability to work in a team environment and ability to be self-motivated.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire and motivation to expand areas of expertise and contribute in diverse areas of technical interest.
