SUMMARY: You will be joining a seasoned, experienced, and successful sales team and will be responsible for selling Commercial & Industrial Solar, Battery Storage projects in Southern California. This specific role primarily focuses on developing and responding to Solar, Storage and Microgrid projects and solicitations from Utilities and State and Federal Agencies. In this role, you will develop business and conduct needs assessments of client's requirements, qualify the client/project, and select and propose the best-fit solution achieving the client’s stated goals.

A successful Commercial Energy Consultant generates leads as needed and follows-up on company provided leads in a timely manner. The Commercial Energy Consultant qualifies clients, completing a utility, space, and needs analysis. Each Consultant is expected to prepare and present proposals to potential clients resulting in contracts and raving fans. The Renewables Sales Consultant will utilize proposal tools, collaborate with design and estimating teams, and understand financing options to ensure an effective and consultative sell. This position will sell projects in the target size of 100kW-2MW ($300,000 - $6,000,000). Minimum quotas apply.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Exude a passion for renewables, learning, and communicating with people.
  • Be a team player, know how to work well with others.
  • Qualify and process opportunities.
  • Carry projects from conception to contract execution/financing approval.
  • Cultivate relationships and referrals, create raving fans.
  • Self-generate leads to maintain a pipeline sufficient to meet company goals in addition to company provided leads.
  • Perform cold calling, client outreach, networking, and event attendance.
  • Learn, understand, and evaluate finance models and select packages based on the client’s needs.
  • Prepare professional, accurate and intuitive proposals and RFP responses.
  • Utilize proposal and utility analysis software.
  • Maintain Customer Relations Management system (CRM) regularly and accurately.
  • Generate a formal business plan, each year.
  • Partner with operations team to provide efficient and thorough transition from sale to installation.
  • Effectively work in a dynamic, high-energy environment.
  • Meet goals and deadlines consistently.
  • Prioritize, multi-task, and follow up with internal and external customers consistently and timely.
  • Be flexible in your approach(es), while focusing on the primary goal (sales).
  • Track and understand personal KPIs.

Key 30, 60, 90 Day Accomplishments

  • Develop Business Plan
  • Self-Generate opportunities and proper activity to develop a $10-15M/yr pipeline
  • Show growth and movement within your pipeline

Experience, Education

  • 3+ years of experience in B2B sales
  • Commercial solar and storage experience is a preferred, but other industries considered
  • Must be self-motivated to prospect and always fill your pipeline
  • Driven to achieve and exceed sales quotas
  • Proven ability to be a team player with a desire to grow individually and as a group
  • Experience with “consultative” selling a must
  • Experience selling projects valued over $250,000 strongly preferred
  • Proven ability and history of qualifying and closing deals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM a plus
