PSM Engineer (Engineer I)

Summary of Description:

Perform limited tasks and calculations necessary for engineering and design efforts supporting construction drawings and packages under the guidance of a supervising engineer.


Duties:

  • Checking drawing packages and vendor submittals for completeness and accuracy.
  • Convey adequate instructions to enable the design staff to perform their task with quality work.
  • Perform calculations for related discipline under the direction and supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline from an accredited university with 0-3 years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, offshore, pipeline or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


License Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
  • Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification preferred


Specific Skills:

  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills Microsoft Office and Outlook or similar software.
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements for the related discipline preferred.
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles and application.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
Requirements

Summary of Description:

  • Plan, implement and supervise safety and fire protection programs to comply with corporate standards, federal and state regulations.

Duties:

  • Provide engineering expertise, design and support of ongoing and new projects to implement safety into design
  • Prepare technical specifications as required for projects
  • Provide project technical support during meetings with clients and vendors
  • Subject matter expert in defined areas

Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited university (copy of diploma required).


Experience:

· 3-5 years minimum in industrial, offshore, petrochemical, chemical, or utility industries desired.


Requirements

Specific Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and recommend/design corrective measures.
  • Communication – good oral and written skills are required.
  • Knowledge of discipline design code and other industry standard discipline related regulatory codes.
