SR API 510/570 Inspector (Technician IV)

ReCon has a Senior Inspection position at a local industry leader in the  Plaquemine, LA. This 5/2 role within the client location will work closely with industry leaders by providing inspection services, required reports, and scheduling X-ray services as needed.


Summary of Description:

The API Inspector will report directly to the Inspection & NDT Supervisor who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development. The API Inspector will work technical aspects of the projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements and deliverables clearly and concisely.


Duties:

  • Identify potential damage mechanisms
  • Ensure that the inspections performed are meeting the inspection requirements for detection
  • Recommend repairs as appropriate from inspection findings
  • Provide timely feedback of inspection results to the client or Supervisor. 
  • Provide oversight, interpretation, auditing, and approval of NDT to be performed
  • Organize, prioritize, and execute a peak workload
  • Comply with all ReCon and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed
  • Travel as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) with at least sixteen (16) years of experience in fixed equipment and piping inspection; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


Licensing Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • A current API 510 / API 570 Certification and a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification preferred


Specific Skills:

  • MS Office, including Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Effective communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Knowledge of or exposure to Advanced Modalities
  • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Knowledge in industry standards and recommended practices (API, NFPA, ASME, etc.)


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting to 25 lbs. may be required.
