The Senior Accountant will lead and/or assist in the various areas of the management and maintenance of the accounting systems, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, management reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and other financial and accounting responsibilities.

The Senior Accountant will lead and/or assist in the various areas of the management and maintenance of the accounting systems, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, management reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and other financial and accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure the timely preparation of the Company’s financial statements
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
- Review and manage monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations with the Accounting Team to accurately close financial periods
- Assist with development, implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, as well as the integration of any new accounting systems within the existing corporate systems structure
- Evaluate processes and procedures for continual improvement
- Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and performance projections
- Maintain good internal controls to ensure that the Company’s assets and financial records are safeguarded, and help develop action plans, as needed, relative to internal control needs
- Assist in working with auditors and preparing information for audits
- Assist in the development and review of financial policies and procedures
- Assist in monitoring cash balances and assist with cash management functions such as cash reporting, cash transfers, and line of credit transfers to conserve the Company’s cash position
- Assist in ESOP and 401(k) Plan related entries/activity like accounting for loan balances, related interest, and census data
- Take a lead role in requests by Management with special projects and requests as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited four-year college
- 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
- CPA designation
- 5+ years accounting experience in an engineering, consulting, or related environment
- Experience using Deltek Vantagepoint and Workday Adaptive Planning
- Experience with audits, sales tax, payroll, and ESOP accounting
- Experience with Corporate federal and state income taxes
- Primary functions require physical ability and sufficient mobility to work in an office setting
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement
- Fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
