I/E Planner Scheduler (Technician IV)

Summary of Description:

Perform tasks related to the development and tracking of schedules.


Duties:

  • Gather and input data into scheduling software programs.
  • Maintain schedule and update, as needed.
  • Gather and analyze information to prepare reports.
  • Evaluate critical path, manpower, resources, and equipment.
  • Report to a Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), with additional specialized training or college course work and at least sixteen (16) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Specific Skills:

  • Advanced MS Excel training and knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of field construction and plant maintenance activities,
  • Understanding of schedule controls methodology.
  • Extensive knowledge of resource monitoring techniques such as CPM networks, plus understanding of construction technology, process systems and structures.
  • Able to develop schedule from documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Problem recognition and problem resolution skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
Requirements

* Due to in plant position the below referenced Job Duties have been provided by the client:

  • Verifies proper assignments in SAP (Rotating, I&E, etc.)
  • Shall attend daily Operations morning and Maintenance afternoon Daily meetings
  • Review notifications prior 24 hours and after weekend - Obtain “break-in” approval and communicate to Field Supervisor.
  • Review notification scope for work and perform field walk- Review scope of work with Operations, if needed
  • Identify support groups for work
  • Identify contract services needed for work
  • Review existing task lists
  • Identify parts/materials needed and create BOM
  • Estimate cost
  • Develop SAP PVM plans and review with SAP Admin for correctness
  • Enter steps and work centers in work order
  • Provide Safety & Environmental considerations in the job plan
  • Communicate with central shop(s) or outside shops any work scopes needed to add to shop schedule (Pulling pump to shop, etc.)
  • Reserve services when scheduled
  • Assemble work package
  • Update or build task list for Function Location (5 task lists per month)
  • Regularly review and clean backlog of work orders and notifications
  • Keep at least a four week “Planned” backlog
  • Provide input to build “weekly schedule” and review with Area Team
  • Review Compliance work look ahead (at least 3 months) to properly schedule work and stay in compliance (Examples: TOSTs, Codes, PVMs, H&S items, etc.)
  • Dispatch appropriate work for schedule in SAP
  • Scheduler is a dedicated resource. Not a supervisor. May perform some planning functions.
  • Focus should be on creating the daily and weekly schedule utilizing SAP planned backlog and priorities
  • Shall attend and lead daily afternoon update meetings
  • Review backlog and area priorities to assign work in future weeks
  • Review planning board in SAP, work with operations, and adjust schedule as necessary.
  • Work closely with operations, I&E Supervisor, Rotating Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and Area Planners on 1-2 week look ahead on items to be worked—routine and compliance items with due dates
  • Utilize SAP to assemble daily and weekly schedule based on assigned resources – Schedule between 100%-110% capacity level
  • Resolves problems with SAP leveling in order to build schedule
  • Review work orders for proper plans and correctness
  • Identify backlog items that crews can fall back on if jobs are delayed or cancelled during the week
  • Communicate rigging requests and adjust schedule to reflect the weekly rig schedule.
  • Track “Weekly Schedule” Compliance and report work barriers (Permit delays, equipment not ready, material issues, waiting on other crafts, etc.)
