Senior Architect (Construction Administration Focus)

Make an Impact 

As a Senior Architect, you will be a critical team member within our Charlotte office helping to mentor staff, performing QA/QC, and leading specification writing for key projects. You also will have the opportunity to lead the construction administration process for a variety of upcoming projects in the Charlotte region, with a focus on mixed-use and multi-family wood project types. This will entail spending time in the field, mitigating risk, and advocating for design intent.

 

Deliver Results 

  • Provide extensive expertise in the technical aspects of the design including code compliance, specifications, systems integration, and constructability. 
  • Attend OAC and Progress meetings to assist in resolving issues encountered in the field such as unforeseen conditions, code issues and interpretation of construction documents.
  • Observe construction work and issue field reports to document progress and communicate conformance of work to the Contract Documents.
  • Attend interviews for new projects as well as interviews for potential staff as requested.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with all the various disciplines, including consultants and vendors.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the General Contractor’s or Construction Managers overall schedule as it relates to the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure General Contractors and Construction Managers conform to Progressive AE standards and processes for submittal reviews.
  • Mentor and train junior architects on construction administration and other technical processes.

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Minimum 15 years of architectural experience, including experience with the following:
    • Construction administration.
    • Wood construction projects.
    • Mixed-use or multi-family projects.
  • Experience utilizing Revit or AutoCAD required, including producing construction documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed architect with current license.
  • NCARB registration.
  • AIA membership.
  • LEED AP, CSI-CDT, and CSI-CCS certification.
  • Bluebeam and Procore experience.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and BSD Spec Link.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Teams.
