Marine Mechanic-Lead Level V

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has an opportunity available for a full-time Marine Mechanic-Lead Level V Technician in Virginia Beach, VA.

Summary: The Marine Mechanic-Lead Level V Technician provides supervision and management for a team and will serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for problem resolution and liaison with Government. Ensures contract deliverables are accurately and timely submitted. Is given the authority to make decisions relating to the program. This experienced individual will provide troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and material assessment of marine propulsion and or power generation for various types of patrol boats, equipment, mechanical systems, and components in accordance with OEM technical specifications in CONUS & OCONUS locations, as required.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Ability to coordinate program requirements, subcontractors, and employees.
  • Provide direction to subordinates, and work to identify complex problems and formulate efficient solutions relating to the Marine level of effort.
  • Uses technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and identify causes for equipment/system failure to the component level.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Performs Lay-ups and related maintenance checks of boats in mid-level storage program.
  • Performs Start-ups and related maintenance checks of boats in mid-level storage program.
  • Provides written reports for all work accomplished and completed action documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of maintenance/repair as required.
  • Maintains shop equipment.
  • Provides technical support relative to the operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of marine mechanical systems, subsystems and components including but not limited to:
  • Cummins Diesel Engines

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience of general marine propulsion and or power generation experience in operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or marine engineering may be substituted for 3 of the 5 years of experience.
  • A minimum of 5 of the 10 years of experience will be in specialized marine propulsion or power generation, maintenance, repair or inspection experience at the engineer, technician, planner, designer, foreman, or quality assurance level concentrating on the specific application.
  • Ability to provide direction to subordinates.
  • Knowledge of proper use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Possess strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Possess organizational skills.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication.
  • Have strong understanding of technical requirements.
  • Ability to identify technical problems and solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible.
  • Ability to travel overseas when required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain a US Passport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military expeditionary equipment maintenance experience.
  • A graduate of CUMMINS Insite Familiarization course and hold an Insite Qualification & Tier 3 QSB/QSC Engine Qualifications
  • and/or
  • Certified to work on Mercury Outboard Systems to include Optimax and Verado outboard engines and have completed Intro to CDS and Verado/Optimax I & II qualifications

ADA Notations

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a field environment for extended periods (and in some cases, areas of extreme heat and humidity such as Guam, Djibouti, Bahrain, etc).
  • Ability to be able to work in maintenance shop environment
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
  • Job may require bending, stooping, lifting, and will be in an environment of low and high temperatures.
