Cake Decorator

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • To accurately record customers’ order/ requests for cakes and other bakery items
  • To process customer purchases quickly and accurately by the operation of an electronic cash register, scanner and scale
  • To review the perishable department Communication Board daily for updated materials and follow the guidelines posted for the Sampling Program and intercom announcements. To greet all customers, respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a courteous manner
  • To ice and decorate cakes and pastries to customers and company specifications
  • To record "out-of-stock" conditions and the time they occur and report to the department manager
  • To fill/stock: donut case, cookie case, cake case, other display cases, and counter and display tables throughout the store

 

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Cake Decorator reports directly to the Bakery Manager

Qualifications

  • Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with oven, convection oven, mixer, fryer, bread slicer, stove, wrapper, scales, and cleaning materials

 

Specific tasks

  • Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 50 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer
  • Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas
  • Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
  • Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers
  • Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely
  • Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems
  • To supervise/perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily utilizing the time keeping system to record each check.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Work Environment Note:

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
