Maintenance Assistant (In-House)
Description

Summary of Description:

Complete maintenance, construction, painting and/or remodeling work as directed. Responsibilities may include making minor repairs; performing routine maintenance; replacing light ballasts; painting; monitoring climate control systems; inspecting equipment; installing equipment; and coordinating repairs with external contractors.


Duties:

  • Complete maintenance tasks which may include making minor repairs, painting assigned areas, replacing light ballasts, monitoring climate control systems, and/or completing related duties as directed by supervisor. 
  • Perform a variety of manual labor tasks related to cleanup and moving furniture. 
  • Assist with landscape activities, which may include mowing lawns and trimming shrubbery utilizing applicable hand and power tools
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with two (2) years of experience in a maintenance role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


License Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement

  • Using applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment.
  • Performing basic trades maintenance activities.
  • Prioritizing and assigning work.
  • Troubleshooting systems related to area of assignment.
  • Preparing and maintaining a variety of maintenance records.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
