Associate Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design/Specify weld fixtures, tools and machines used to manufacture products.
  • Review production equipment, hardware, and tooling; make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
  • Develop new processes, methods, and production controls.
  • Install new equipment and ensure that it operates correctly; write work instructions and train others to operate new machinery.
  • Update equipment when product design changes are implemented.
  • Review changes and product improvements with customers.
  • Prepare operations manuals for new or existing equipment.
  • Work with product engineering and quality to certify tools and equipment meet engineering and FMVSS specifications.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure equipment receives proper PM.
  • Maintain documentation for fixtures, tools, and machines.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; apply this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience Level:
  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or related field required.
  • One to three years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • One to three years of weld fixture and/or tooling design experience.
  • Take a lead role in supporting manufacturing operations through fixture design, development, and launch.
  • Knowledge of robotic welding principles.
  • Proficient with 2d and 3d solid CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Electrical and pneumatic/hydraulics working knowledge beneficial.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S & other continuous improvements experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required.
  • Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable with hands-on work. Some machine shop/fab shop experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and root cause problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working with welding and metal fabrication operations.
  • Must be able to work within the IMMI facility, not a work at home position.
  • IMMI is a team environment, must be a self-starter who is able to function well in a fluid working environment without constant direct supervision.
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
