Capital Project Planner (Technician II)

Summary of Description:

Perform tasks related to the development and tracking of schedules.


Duties:

  • Gather and input data into scheduling software programs.
  • Maintain schedule and update, as needed.
  • Gather and analyze information to prepare reports.
  • Evaluate critical path, manpower, resources, and equipment.
  • Report to a Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), with additional specialized training or college course work and at least six (6) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Specific Skills:

  • Advanced MS Excel training and knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of field construction and plant maintenance activities,
  • Understanding of schedule controls methodology.
  • Extensive knowledge of resource monitoring techniques such as CPM networks, plus understanding of construction technology, process systems and structures.
  • Able to develop schedule from documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Problem recognition and problem resolution skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
Requirements

 *Due to in plant position the below referenced Job Duties have been provided by the client: 

  

Responsibilities:

· Use Critical-Path Method (CPM) to plan and schedule Front End Loading (FEL) and Execution phase project schedules within Primavera P6 

· Setting up of the schedule control base and progress reports according to defined structure 

· Develop and maintain framework level plans for reporting of project at initial capital approval and for progress reporting at executive level during project execution.

· Schedule integration with other entities and stakeholders to produce the integrated Owner’s schedule 

· Tracking and updating progress in Primavera P6 

· Assisting with the development, review, updating and implementation planning, scheduling and progress related systems and procedures 

· Compiling of monthly schedule progress reports including forecasts by co-ordination, expediting and liaison with other functions and stakeholders for input 

· Evaluating and reviewing of contractor schedules and evaluating, analyzing and reviewing of contractor progress reports 

· Evaluating and implementing schedule change management 

· Resource planning and reporting for the project manager, construction manager and engineering portfolio management 

· Assisting with the evaluation of change orders and impact on project schedules

· Assisting with the assessment of cost and schedule risk impacts

· Compiling of ad hoc reports / presentations 

· Assisting and participating with audits and ensuring that planning and scheduling activities complies with applicable governance and procedures.

· Develop external relationships with customers and suppliers and deliver predefined function or planning objectives

· Maintain scheduling/planning metrics/ KPI’s in the Project Services performance dashboard.

· Utilizing benchmarking and historical trends to determine realistic planning timelines on new projects.

· Minimum of 5 years of extensive primavera (P6) expertise on capital projects (required)

· Knowledge of SAP
