POSITION PURPOSE
A supervisory position with the primary responsibilities of directing the activities of personnel to maintain and improve the manufacturing plant, fixed assets, systems, offices, and campus of the Milford facility. This includes the delegation of daily work as well as managing short term, long term, and capital projects as assigned by the Reliability & Maintenance Manager. As a fully engaged leader, the Facility Leader takes ownership for the execution of the department’s strategy and goals, and demonstrates BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation. Ensures all technicians are properly trained and performing according to BAC’s safety, production, and quality standards and guidelines. Sets both short and long term objectives for members of their team. Promotes open communication and ensure all necessary information is provided to employees in a timely manner. The purpose for every position at BAC regardless of department or level can be summed up as doing the right thing in the right way.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Owns personal and team safety. Ensures team observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
- Organize vendors, people and resources to manage projects to stay on budget and on time
- Prepare RFQ’s and RFP’s for the procurement of plant services, systems and equipment
- Prepare capital equipment justification and project plans
- Establish and report out on metrics that support Plant and Facility KPI’s
- Responsible for the training and development of technicians
- Recognize and reward team accomplishments, celebrating team and organizational success.
- Ensure open and clear communication to department employees
- Ensure critical facility systems including fire suppression, security, HVAC, electrical, compressed air, water, and nitrogen gas are fully operational
- Ensure critical support equipment such as cranes, hoists, roll up doors, docks, and fume collection are fully operational
- Completion of yearly reviews for team and set annual and quarterly objectives.
- Completion of detailed accident investigation reports for all accidents.
- Drive LEAN principles and implement tools for measuring continuous improvement
- Conducts and / or oversees both planned and unplanned inspections and audits to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance operations
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, and assigned.
- Investigates and evaluates equipment and systems failures
- Ensure individual activities embrace sustainability, reduce the impact on the environment, minimize waste, maximize recycling, minimize energy and water usage.

NATURE & SCOPE
Reports to the Reliability and Maintenance Manager. The Supervisor is a part of the department leadership team and shares responsibility for the department goals and objectives. The Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of technicians. Additionally, he / she may participate on cross functional and regional teams.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, or other Technical field. May substitute experience in lieu of
- Demonstrated supervisory/management skills including leading, delegation, and follow-up
- Strong organization skills including prioritizing to meet customer expectations, smart allocation of resources, and the ability to translate BAC strategy into individual team member actions.
- Ability to mentor and train technicians. Adjusts coaching style to needs of the individual.
- Effective written communication including documentation of processes, and the communication of those processes with fellow mechanics. Ability to communicate to supervisors and co-workers with written memos or emails that are professional, concise, technical, and clearly understood.
- Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customers, co-workers, and stakeholder groups. The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate.
- Organizational savvy that leverages contacts and relationships to achieve team goals.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and uses consistent root cause methodology.
- Quickly adopts technology and is competent in the use of BAC software tools, databases, cloud-based applications, and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Competency with MS Excel including creating spreadsheets, updating data and generating metrics including graphs, charts, and trendlines.
- Versed in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Familiar with all appropriate procedures, policies, and instructions for factory maintenance

Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Occasional weekend work is typical and availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
