At Room & Board, our full-time Design/Retail Sales Associate role (5 days a week, including weekends, with 8-hour shifts) offers a range of benefits, including health coverage, three weeks of paid vacation, 401(k), profit sharing, and more. You'll contribute to a positive and efficient work environment, supporting a talented team while working with beautiful home furnishings that showcase American craftsmanship.

 

In this role, you'll use technology and resources to create an engaging customer experience, helping clients design spaces they love. The pace in our Austin showroom varies, requiring flexibility to handle busy periods with multiple customers while staying self-motivated during quieter times. Whether clienteling, working on design projects, or finding ways to grow the business, you'll remain proactive and engaged throughout your shift.

Store hours:

Monday – Friday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

 

Schedule:

Tuesday thru Saturday - days off: Sunday and Monday

 

You'll work a total of 40 hours a week and enjoy one weekend off every schedule cycle. The week in which you have the weekend off, your weekend shift will be scheduled during the weekday you are typically off, so flexibility with your schedule is necessary. To allow you to easily balance your other life priorities, we build out schedules for an entire month and release them a little over a month in advance.

 

What you bring to be successful as a Design / Retail Sales Associate:

  • A customer-focused, consultative approach, understanding client needs with professionalism and respect.
  • Adaptability to handle both high traffic and quieter times, proactively filling your day with productive tasks.
  • Team player mentality with a collaborative, open-minded attitude.
  • Confidence in a non-commissioned selling environment, guiding customers through the design process.
  • Proficiency with technology, including iPads, floor planning software, and POS systems, to enhance the customer experience.
  • Lifelong learner mindset, continuously seeking opportunities to build knowledge and hone your craft. 

 

Additional position requirements and qualifications as a Design / Retail Sales Associate:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a customer-centric, fashion/design savvy retail environment with a passion for design and engaging with customers on the showroom floor.
  • You bring exceptional communication skills, demonstrated confidence, attention to detail, prioritization and organization skills, and a high level of comfort navigating technology and virtual resources.
