Job Summary
The Furnace Operator tends to the furnace that remelts aluminum metal used in the die-casting process.
Essential Functions
- Dumps, shovels or places specified proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace.
- May sprinkle or mix fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface.
- Skims slag from surface with strainer.
- May transfer molten metal from furnace to bull ladle.
- Pours metal retainer of die-casting machine.
- May clean furnaces and equipment.
- May operate gas or electric powered forklift truck to move, stack, or unload metal in and about facility.
- Counts, weighs, and or records number of units of metal moved or handled.

4:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday -Thursday
Compensation
The anticipated hourly starting pay range for this position is $20.26 to $27.01. The exact rate may be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
