Mark Thomas is adding a Project Accounting Manager to our Accounting & Finance team! The Project Accounting Manager is an experienced industry Project Accountant with the ability to prepare any type of invoice for all types of projects and clients and provides frontline support to Project Managers and Project Accountants. This position carries a project workload and shoulders leadership and training responsibilities to provide direct assistance and oversight to the project accounting/billing team – ensuring they manage their individual project workload accordingly. RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the daily activities of the project accounting department for the accurate and timely processing of billings, sub-consultant invoices, and billing terms set-up; manages and balances team member project accountant workload and assignments.
Provides educational information, training, and assistance to Project Accountants and directly supervises and assesses their performance; acts as a frontline contact for support and questions and offers invoicing/billing guidance; partners with the Billing Manager on escalations as appropriate.
Directly manages and provides mentorship to Project Accountants; conducts career conversations for direct reports; interviews and selects new Project Accountants.
Prepares and submits invoices without assistance on time and to Mark Thomas specification, in a fast-paced and high-volume environment; works with service line project managers to ensure billing and invoices are properly prepared and submitted; manages project billing lifecycle.
Creates, maintains, and updates Deltek project rate tables with new hires, promotions, etc.; assists the team with project rate increase processing annually or as they occur.
Performs weekly review for missing billing rates and billing values and updates as necessary.
Responsible for running the weekly revenue generation report to ensure project revenue is recognized appropriately and in a timely manner.
Performs project analysis to resolve project billing variances and discrepancies.
Develops a productive working relationship with Project Managers to support project performance metrics.
Supports the business in achieving the financial targets per project, and works with project managers and accounting to ensure costs are hitting the jobs correctly.

Performs Accounts Receivable/Collections responsibilities to include following up with clients to collect receivables, schedule payments to consultants, etc.
Reviews (monthly) and approves journal entries, accruals, and analysis.

Assists with month-end closing and works with the appropriate accounting staff to collect missing information and integrates the data with financial reporting; responsible for weekly, monthly, and routine reporting as assigned.
Acts as a Project Accountant point of contact and SME for Deltek VantagePoint; Develops and maintains Vantagepoint Guides to provide a resource and aid in training Accounting Team and Mark Thomas staff members on processes within the Deltek System; conducts training on Vantagepoint Guides.
Generates batch billing and compiles the monthly billing drafts for distribution to assigned billing managers or clients; partners with project leaders to resolve difficult billing issues with clients.
Maintains and updates prevailing wage cost tables for prevailing wage projects; in partnership with the Prevailing Wage & Labor Compliance Specialist to perform prevailing wage compliance reporting as required.
Helps to cover and delegate project workload when other Project Accountant are out of the office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree, Bachelor's degree preferred
8-10+ years of project accountant experience; A/E consulting firm experience preferred
Experience with invoicing, cost monitoring, or project controls related to professional services
Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles; Knowledge and understanding of FAR preferred
Deltek experience strongly preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of facilitating training/learning through presentation, communication, and content creation
Ability to interact with a variety of people internally and externally at all levels of the organization
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment, be extremely organized, and have excellent communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce a work product to Company or contract specification with minimal oversight
Intermediate level proficiency in Excel
Strong problem-solving skills, detail oriented, ability to research issues
Possess a professional, courteous, and team-oriented attitude
Strong oral and written communication skills

The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The base compensation range for this position is $104,000.00 - $179,400.00 annually.
