ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • 10% - Studies blueprints to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions of work piece.
  • 30% - Lifts, locates, secures, and verifies positions of work piece in fixtures, jigs, vices, tombstones, and table.
  • 10% - Adjusts feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cuts, and tooling offsets.
  • 10% - Mounts tooling in spindle, monitors tooling wear, sets tooling positions in relation to the work piece.
  • 10% - Verifies alignment of work piece.
  • 20% - Performs Quality checks, AQL’s, & in-process Inspections.
  • 5% - Recommend Continuous Improvement Initiatives for work area to supervisor.
  • 5% - Cross training between work centers and cells.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 5- 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Strong verbal, non-verbal, & written communication skills. Listens to instructions carefully and can relay information to others effectively. Understands the importance of cross training and working with a team to build a positive culture through relationships, attitude, work ethic, & dependability.  

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Ability to set up and operate multiple machining work centers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb and/or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
