Mechanic - Solid Waste

What we are looking for

This role involves operating and maintaining mechanical gas recovery and process equipment under general supervision. The position emphasizes performing tasks in a professional, productive, and safe manner, with a focus on continuously improving both personal and organizational health and safety performance. The individual is expected to embrace the principles of the company’s Safety Culture, support behavior-based safety practices, and actively contribute to eliminating unsafe practices and conditions.

How you can make an impact

Perform safety inspections and identify safety hazards at flare stations/compressor skids and condensate systems
Perform a variety of repairs, maintenance, services and cleaning tasks on assigned equipment, blowers, compressors, and pumps
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and/or machinery at flare stations, compressor skids, and blower stations.
Operate a variety of maintenance and repair equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Read and understand technical manual, blueprints, shop drawings and sketches.
Accurately diagnose mechanical repair needs.
Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Perform assigned work in accordance with appropriate safety practices and regulations.
Work independently in absence of supervision.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Complete site check list and inform supervisor of any changes or concerns.
Participates in monthly tailgate Health and Safety meeting. Participates in monthly Health and Safety (SOP) training.
Prepares daily logs for work performed on sites during workday.

Qualifications

Two to five years mechanical plant operation and maintenance.
Advanced technical skills related to mechanical and electrical equipment operation and maintenance.
40 hour Health & Safety, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, Confined Space Entry, and Trench Excavation Safety training; high school diploma preferred.
Ability to read and understand mechanical plans and specifications.

Meet physical requirements for driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting and carrying equipment/mechanical components (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), carrying and climbing ladders, operating electrical tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions.

Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
