JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Project Accountant is responsible for applying costs to the appropriate jobs and preparing job billings with all related paperwork. This position plays an integral role in the timely and accurate completion of job billings which becomes income for the business.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Import Sheet Metal Fabrication costs to jobs.
Add phase codes and cost types to projects as requested by Business Department or Construction Operations Manager.
Respond to all lien waiver requests.
Update and reconcile work in process spreadsheet to general ledger.
Prepare job billings and all related paperwork on appropriate bill days (15, 20, 25, 30, EOM).
Soft close final billed jobs in Vista.
Ensure all appropriate documentation for job billings are notarized as requested.
Collect and submit vendor lien waivers as directed by GC requirements on jobs.
Create the next month’s schedule of values (SOVs) on the J drive.
Update and review job payment log for accuracy.
Upload invoices to third party payments sites.
Request Certificates of Insurance for jobs, as needed.
Maintain tax-exempt certificates.
Apply costs to jobs manually.
Job cost warranty work orders.
File notice of right to lien with BMDA for appropriate jobs.
Assist with specially assigned projects as requested.
Attend all company, office and department meetings.
Attend applicable seminars and webinars to further education/skills.
Complete time entry daily using appropriate payroll codes.
Proactively engage in all aspects of company safety program.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:

Proficient in the use of computers. Programs include: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and will become proficient in QuickBooks and Vista software.
Knowledge in job billing and/or project accounting.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, time management, project management, and organizational skills.
Continuous self-improvement and proactive mindset.
Willing to work in both a team setting as well as individually.
Flexible, accommodating, and adaptable to constant change.
Knowledge in the HVAC and/or construction industry preferred, but not required.
