Since its founding in 1980, Zia Records has been a pioneer in independent music retail across the southwestern United States. As the premier indie media retailer in Arizona and Nevada, Zia prides itself on offering an extensive selection of new and pre-owned music, movies, video games, books, and pop culture items. In 2021, Zia Records became employee-owned when they implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Their ownership culture is a testament to their commitment to its staff and the local communities it serves in Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Vegas.
