About the role:
The Business Development Manager will facilitate and support the growth and expansion efforts for Brinkman Construction in Northern Colorado. The ideal candidate will value company culture and mission, understand the construction industry, and have a proven track record in developing strategic partnerships, securing new business, and enhancing brand visibility within our target markets. This role will focus on diversified projects including healthcare, higher education, and other commercial-type work.
Essential Functions:
- Lead efforts to identify and prioritize new business opportunities, market trends, and client needs in conjunction with leadership and long-term company strategies.
- Establish and nurture relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor, maintaining strong client engagement throughout project lifecycles.
- Work closely with estimating, marketing, preconstruction, and project management teams to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with client requirements.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build a network of contacts and stay informed of industry trends and competitive positioning.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, assess competitor strategies, and provide insights into market shifts and economic trends.
- Consistently find opportunities that align with company vision and build a robust pipeline of potential projects, partnerships, and clients. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress toward revenue and growth goals.
- Partner with other business units to align business development efforts with company goals and capabilities.
- Build and maintain community relationships through active participation on boards, associations, and other community groups.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making, lead with integrity, and demonstrate honesty.
- This role requires majority of time spent actively engaging in the marketplace through networking, industry conferences, community and charitable initiatives, and related activities, with minimal time in the office.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, construction Management, or related field; MBA preferred by not required.
- 5-10 years of prior experience in a business development/sales and leadership role required, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of regional construction market, industry standards, and business development strategies specific to construction.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a track record of establishing long-term client relationships.
- Skilled in market analysis, financial assessment, and competitive positioning to guide strategic decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in creating and delivering compelling presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed business growth targets, with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities.
- Familiarity with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of construction management software is a plus.
- Ability to conceptualize and implement strategic plans that align with long-term company goals.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.

Salary: Range of $130,000 to $165,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with technical skills and experience.
