The Sales Engineer combines technical expertise with sales skills to sell complex products and/or services. This person is responsible for bridging the gap between the company’s technical offerings and the customer’s needs, providing technical support and demonstrating how the company’s products and/or services can solve the customer’s need requiring knowledge of engineering and cost effectiveness. (Mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, electronic equipment and supplies or services)
Shift/Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 pm. Monday-Friday
Compensation:
The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $79,000 to $105,000. The exact salary may be determined on a combination of factors including the candidate's knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
Essential Functions
- Must have a deep understanding of the products and/or services they are selling, including technical specifications, functionality, and applications.
- Seeks out and works with customers (representatives at commercial, industrial, etc) to understand their technical requirements, challenges, and business goals
- Develop and propose technical solutions that meet the customer’s needs, potentially customizing products or services.
- Reviews blueprints, plans and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projects, and increase in production from clients’ use of proposed equipment or services.
- Deliver technical presentation and product demonstrations to explain the value proposition and showcase how the product solves the customer’s problems
- Provide ongoing technical support, answering technical questions and resolving issues ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing issues.
- May assist with the technical aspects of contract negotiations, drawing up sales or service contracts for products or services, ensuring that contract terms align with the proposed solutions
- May provide technical training to employees of clients.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and competitor offerings to better understand the market landscape.
- This position will require travel up to 40%.
- This is an in-office position (no remote or hybrid-work)

Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- 2+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role.
- Strong technical background and ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers and internal teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions
- Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role.
- Familiarity with sales management tools
- Experience in creating technical content, such as whitepapers
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing
