Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established hospital and its affiliated entities. This role offers high visibility, autonomy, and impact, with direct responsibility for complex accounting areas, financial reporting, and mentorship within a mission-driven healthcare environment.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timely close

Oversee general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit-ready workpapers

Prepare and review complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and estimates
-
Manage internal and external reporting requirements, including financial surveys, IRS filings, cost reports, and cash assessments

Play a key role in annual budget preparation, forecasting, and ICR reporting

Prepare and review schedules supporting annual tax filings (Forms 990, 1120, and CHAR500)

Oversee preparation of the Consolidated Fiscal Report for Special Needs Preschool programs

Analyze monthly expense and FTE budget variances, identifying trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
-
Monitor and reconcile capital leases, long-term debt, and related liability accounts

Maintain oversight of fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and capitalization policies

Serve as a finance partner to hospital departments, addressing accounting questions and supporting operational needs

Maintain and improve financial data tables, system interfaces, and reporting processes

Review daily cash activity, bank reconciliations, and weekly cash disbursement reports

Support external audits and respond to auditor requests

Escalate complex issues, recommend solutions, and support special projects as needed

Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior accounting staff
What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Healthcare or multi-entity experience preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

Proven ability to work independently and manage complex responsibilities

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Experience supporting audits and cross-functional stakeholders
